Pricing
How Much Does a Shed Cost?
The honest answer is that it depends — and it depends on things you can control. This guide explains what moves the price so you can set a realistic budget and compare quotes fairly.
Montco Sheds doesn't sell sheds or publish dealer prices. Pricing varies based on size, materials, options, site conditions, delivery, and builder. The best way to get a real number is to request local pricing for the specific structure you want.
What affects shed prices
Size
Size is the biggest factor. Price doesn't rise in a straight line, though. Doors, roof trim, and delivery are fixed costs, so a somewhat larger shed often costs less per square foot than a small one.
Style and roofline
Simple gable (peak) and gambrel (barn) roofs are usually the most economical. Cottage, Cape Cod, Victorian Deluxe, and modern studio styles add overhangs, trim, or extra windows. Garages need overhead doors and heavier floors.
Materials
- Siding: engineered wood, board-and-batten, vinyl, and metal all vary in cost and upkeep.
- Roofing: asphalt shingles and metal are both common, at different price points.
- Floor and framing: heavier floor joists and pressure-treated components matter for vehicles and equipment.
Options
Extra windows, ramps, lofts, shelving, workbenches, transom windows, electrical prep, upgraded doors, and paint colors each add cost. Prioritize what you'll actually use.
Site preparation
Most sheds need a level base, often compacted gravel, and some need concrete. A sloped yard may need blocking or extra grading. Ask each builder what's included and what you're responsible for.
Delivery and access
Prebuilt sheds are delivered by truck and placed with a trailer or a shed mover. Distance, tight gates, slopes, and obstacles can affect delivery cost or require building on site.

Get Local PricingSetting a budget
When the shed assistant asks for a budget, it's not committing you to anything. A range helps builders suggest options that fit, and it saves you from quotes that are way off. If you aren't sure, pick “Not sure yet.” Builders can still help.
How to compare quotes
- Compare the same size, style, and options. A cheaper quote may leave out doors, windows, or the ramp.
- Ask what's included: delivery, leveling, base prep, permits, paint.
- Ask about materials and the warranty.
- Ask about lead time, especially in spring when demand is highest.

Shed pricing questions
Can you tell me the exact price of a shed?
No. Montco Sheds doesn't publish dealer prices. Pricing varies based on size, materials, options, site conditions, delivery, and builder. Request local pricing to get real quotes.
Is delivery included in shed prices?
It varies by builder and distance. Always ask what delivery includes and whether site prep or leveling is extra.
Are bigger sheds a better value?
Often the cost per square foot drops as size increases, because doors, trim, and delivery are fixed costs. But only if you'll use the space and it fits your yard and township rules.
